What’s the difference between childcare and preschool?
Standalone preschools generally cater for children aged 3 to 5 and often operate during school hours and terms. Long day care supports a wider age range and offers longer hours, while also providing preschool and school readiness programs.
Both can offer valuable early learning. For families who need education and dependable care across the working day, long day care brings those needs together.
Open during school holidays
School holidays don’t always mean holidays from work. School breaks typically include three breaks of around two weeks and a summer break of around six weeks. That is roughly 12 weeks each year when preschools operating only during school terms may be closed.
Happy Steps remains open during school holidays, helping families keep their regular childcare arrangements without finding another service simply because the term has ended. Children can continue enjoying familiar routines, friendships, learning and meals.
Excludes public holidays and any notified centre closure dates.
Meals and snacks included
Busy mornings are easier with one less thing to prepare. Happy Steps provides meals and snacks each day, with vegetarian options available, reducing lunchbox preparation and separate food costs.
While some preschools provide meals, others ask families to bring food from home. It’s an important inclusion to consider when comparing services. Speak with our team about your child’s allergies and dietary requirements.
Learning that helps children get ready for school
Our preschool and Pre-Kindy programs build early literacy, numeracy, communication and problem-solving skills through play and purposeful teaching.
We also nurture confidence, independence, friendships and emotional development, helping children prepare for school while enjoying being children. There’s no need to move to a separate preschool simply to access school readiness learning.
More flexibility for your family
Happy Steps welcomes children from six weeks to six years and opens Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Longer hours provide flexibility around work, commuting and family commitments, while one centre can support children through different stages of their early years.
Eligible families can access Child Care Subsidy. Our team can explain your fees and any applicable preschool fee relief, so you can compare the full package rather than just the advertised daily price.
