What is CCS?
The Child Care Subsidy is a payment from the Australian Government that can help eligible families with the cost of approved childcare.
If you are eligible, the subsidy is paid directly to your childcare provider. This reduces the amount you pay out of pocket for your child’s care.
The amount each family receives is different. It can depend on factors including your family income, the type of care you use, the hours of care needed and your activity details.
How do I apply?
Parents generally apply for CCS through their myGov account, linked to Centrelink.
Once your child is enrolled at Happy Steps, you will receive an enrolment notice through your Centrelink/myGov account. You need to review and confirm the enrolment details so CCS can be applied correctly.
It is best to apply early, before your child’s first day of care, to help avoid paying the full daily fee while your claim is being processed.
What information may you need?
You may be asked to provide or confirm:
- Your child’s details and immunisation status
- Your family income estimate
- Your work, study, training or other activity details
- Your child’s enrolment details

CCS at Happy Steps Early Learning Centre
